Tuesday, Afternoon Practice Cancelled.
Good Afternoon,
Today's afternoon practice is cancelled. I copied and pasted what I messaged out last night. I hope to get out a report of who is Lakeland A qualified as of now.
Please declare for tomorrow's meet, and Saturday (If interested).
Wednesday, July 29 – Swim Clinic and Lake Mohawk Meet
Due to a scheduling matter, we will offer only one swim clinic on Wednesday morning:
- Swim Clinic: 9:30–10:30 AM
Wednesday evening, we will travel to Lake Mohawk for a Lakeland meet at its six-lane pool.
- Arrival: 6:00 PM
- Warm-up: 6:30 PM
- Meet Start: 7:00 PM
- Address: 600 East Shore Trail, Sparta, NJ 07871
*I hope to have an answer regarding the weather early enough that we do not make the trip up there unnecessarily.
Thursday, July 30 - Swim Practice
We will follow our usual Thursday practice schedule.
Friday, July 31 - Swim Practice
We will follow our usual Fun Friday practice schedule.
Saturday, August 1 – Erskine Invitational
The Erskine Invitational is optional. Most of our swimmers will compete in open events. I attached the meet announcement for your viewing.
*I intend to compete in the 200 IM LC and hope to survive.
This is one of the final opportunity to achieve or improve a qualifying time and entry-seeding time for the Lakeland “A” Championships. Only times achieved during Wednesday’s Lakeland meets or at the three designated invitationals may be used for qualification:
- Individual Age Group Invitational
- Coaches Choice Invitational
- Erskine Invitational
The Individual Age Group and Coaches Choice invitationals have already taken place. Therefore, Wednesday’s meet at Lake Mohawk, Saturday’s Erskine Invitational, and Wednesday’s Fayson Lakes meet are our final opportunities to establish or improve a Lakeland “A” time.
Erskine is also a good facility for a meet. The spectator area is close to the lanes, and there is plenty of space for younger swimmers and siblings to move around. I recall their diving board being opened in previous years.
- Coaches Meeting, Scratches and Deck Entries: 8:00 AM
- Warm-up: 8:30 AM
- Meet Start: 9:00 AM
- Location: Erskine Lake-Upper Lake
Monday, August 3 – Ramapo Championship Makeup
Making up a championship meet is not easy, as the host facility’s availability and many other moving parts must be considered. It took a great deal of work from many people for today’s meet to look the way it did.
4:30 Arrival and Scratches Due
4:45 Session 1 Warm-ups #1 (same sessions/lanes as Monday)
5:00 Session 1 Warm-ups #2 (same sessions/lanes as Monday)
5:30 Session 1 Meet Start
6:00 Session 2 Warm-ups (simultaneous to the meet running in the 25s)
6:30 Session 2 Start
Once I receive the updated meet file, I will reopen the entries.
Your immediate attention in letting us know whether your swimmer will attend would be greatly appreciated.
Tuesday, August 4 – End-of-Season Party
Our Wayne Waves end-of-season party will be held Tuesday, August 4. Additional information will follow.
Wednesday, August 5 – Final Home Meet
We will host Fayson Lakes for our final home meet of the season on Wednesday, August 5.
Saturday, August 8 – Lakeland “A” Championships
The Lakeland “A” Championships will be held in Pequannock.
- Address: 1 Marvin Road, Pompton Plains, NJ 07444
- Parking Opens: 6:30 AM (Tentative)
- Wayne Waves Arrival and Warm-up: Still to be announced
- Scratch Meeting: 8:15 AM
- Officials’ Meeting: 8:45 AM
- Timers’ Meeting: 9:00 AM
- Opening Ceremony: 9:15 AM
- Meet Start: 9:30 AM sharp
Previous information listed two warm-up sessions from 8:00–8:30 AM and 8:30–9:00 AM. However, our assigned session and arrival time have not yet been announced. I will share that information once it is confirmed.
Attached are the current Lakeland “A” qualifying-time standards. Interestingly enough, a time-adjustment meeting will be held on the day of the Ramapo Championships. At that meeting, the qualifying standards are generally adjusted with the goal of having approximately 40 swimmers throughout the league qualify in each stroke, event, and age group. Therefore, the attached standards will change qualifying many on our team.
Medals will be awarded for first through 16th place in all individual events and first through eighth place in all relay events.
Please bookmark the Lakeland “A” Championship information page for meet information and future updates.
