Hello Wayne Waves Families,

I recently received an updated signup list from Wayne Recreation, and I am excited to see returning swimmers, new siblings, and new families joining us this season.

Please remember to register with Wayne Township Recreation as soon as possible. We will soon begin sending season updates directly to registered families.

Attached is important information to help everyone get started.

Our first Parent Meeting will be held on Monday, June 8th at 7:00 PM at the Wayne Community Center. The Parent Board and I strongly encourage all families to attend. We will review the season schedule, discuss expectations, and answer questions.

Swim assessments will be held on Thursday, June 11th and Friday, June 12th at Toms Lake. Assessments are primarily for new members, but all Wayne Waves swimmers are welcome to get some lane time in and say hello.

These are not traditional tryouts. They help us confirm that swimmers can swim safely without assistance and place them in the appropriate practice group. Assessments will be run similarly to a practice, so swim caps and goggles are helpful.

Swim Assessment Schedule — June 11th and 12th

Novice: 4:30–5:00 PM
Pre-Senior: 5:00–5:45 PM
Senior: 6:00–6:45 PM

General Group Criteria

Novice: Able to swim one lap unassisted while continuing to build basic skills.
Pre-Senior: Able to complete multiple laps while building endurance.
Senior: Comfortable completing a detailed workout using the competitive strokes.

Swimmers who cannot attend an assessment may join us during the first week of practice, June 15th through June 19th.

Practice times are still being finalized, but we currently expect:

Novice: Around 4:15 PM
Pre-Senior: Around 5:00 PM
Senior: Around 6:00 PM

We will transition to morning practices beginning Friday, June 26th. We are also working on offering one afternoon practice each week.
