Green Pond Swim Meet (Lakeland Swim Meet), upcoming July Swim Meets
Good evening, team,
Thank you to everyone who traveled to Smoke Rise. Making weather-related decisions isn't easy, and we always strive to make the best real-time calls. The primary concern is always when thunder or lightning occurs, which we experienced/lifeguards called. Please read this email to help you prepare for our upcoming July schedule.
Today's Ramapo league swim meet scheduled for 6/30 will be made up on Thursday, 7/10. *Looking ahead, that week (7/7-7/12) will be busy!
Our team fundraiser is tomorrow, 7/1, at Chipotle (1195 Hamburg Tpke, Wayne, NJ). The code for online orders is BBC97PZ.
This Wednesday, 7/2, is our first Lakeland Meet against Green Pond at home! *

I would also like to address meet attendance. Currently, our average attendance at meets is around 50 swimmers. I understand that school schedules can be demanding, especially with the 4th of July approaching and vacations already planned. I hold no personal grievances regarding this, I too took a personal trip.
However, I want to emphasize that attendance and "filling lanes" directly impact our performance in meets. Last year, Green Pond came well-prepared and challenged us in the first half of the meet. Our meets against Fayson, Pequannock x 2, Lake Mohawk, Highland Lakes, and our local rivals will also require a stronger effort. This text is so we can be on the same page about swim meets and do recognize there are lots of meets in July and full attendance is unlikely.
That’s the beauty of sports—anything can happen. I'm just reaching out to remind everyone that a larger squad at the upcoming meets will give us a better chance for success. I’m looking forward to a busy and fun July!
Please feel free to reach out with any comments, questions, or concerns.
Thank you all! Much respect and appreciation for this swim program!
Respectfully,
Matthew Kane
